LOG 00718 SEP 2026 · FORMULA FIXEDOUR FAULT

we turned down our own formula. we tested it in the wrong bottle.

Body wash formula 008 arrived. The color is fixed. The underdose was real, the chemist turned it up, and the black stays put.

But the scent moved.

Not badly, and not by much. Just not the one that was already approved, and the scent had been settled since 006. So we had a formula that finally looked right and no longer smelled like the thing we had signed off.

Then we opened the cupboard and took the revisions down off the shelf at once. In a row, in daylight.

Drops of body wash revisions 001, 003, 004, 005, 006 and 008 on a white dish. 001 and 008 are black. The rest are gray.

001 was still black all the way through.

Six months on a shelf. No separation, no gray at the top, and the scent exactly where we left it in March.

Here is the part that is worth writing down, because it cost us half a year. 001 was rejected on the wrong test. We timed it pouring from the lab's sample bottle, called it too thick for the flask, and never put it through the flask. Everything after that was us chasing a problem we had created by fixing a problem we had never confirmed.

We poured 001 through the actual flask on September 18. It pours fine.

So the wash is 001, with one change: more fragrance, from 1% to 1.5%. The lab calls that 010. It is the one that ships.
