The red crest on the flask has shading in it. Not one flat color. That single decision is what made this difficult.
Laser engraving is the answer everybody wants, including us. Cut the crest into the metal and there is nothing on the surface to come off. It also cannot do shading and it cannot do red.
So the crest is printed. Which means the print is the part of this flask most likely to fail first. We would rather tell you that now than have you find it out.
There were two factories.
One of them could not get the red right. They kept working on it, on their own time and their own materials, months after we told them the order was going elsewhere. They also ran a salt fog test nobody asked them for and sent us the result. Their red gave out before their black did. Then they pointed out that it is a reference and not a guarantee.
They are right, and it goes further than that. Salt fog is built for road salt and sea air. Nothing in a bathroom is a chloride mist. The thing that will actually wear this crest is a wet hand picking it up four times a week, and there is no lab test for that.
The other got the red right. That is the one we went with.
Then we asked her what testing she had done. A dishwasher, ten to twenty cycles, no damage.
So we put one in ours. 60 cycles as of October 11, 2026, and it is looking great.
Nobody washes a body wash flask in a dishwasher. That is the point of doing it.
